Flying high!
Well
it's great to be young and daring. Sometimes it feels 'reaaaallly
cooool' to do something exciting!
Who would want
to be BORING, anyway? But care is needed and if you look closely
at our photo you can see that our two friends are still on the
ground and the propeller is not going round. Oh well - it's okay
to dream - and they do really look the part, up there, don't
they?
In the Bible, God tells us to enjoy LIFE while we are young but to remember that one day, we are going to meet Him. Here is what His Word says, "Be happy, young man, while you are young, and let your heart give you joy in the days of your youth. Follow the ways of your heart and whatever your eyes see, but know that for all these things God will bring you to judgment." ECCLESIASTES 11 v 9.
The
LORD teaches us that the happiest people are those who realise
that this is His world. He made it and He made You and Me. He
gave us the wonderful gift of LIFE. He made us to live out our
lives in OBEDIENCE to Him. That's the only way we can be
FULFILLED and HAPPY! But we have all gone our own way and have
lived SELFISHLY. GOD calls this SIN. It SEPARATES us from Him in
the world - and it will shut us out of HEAVEN for ever, too!
Our Heavenly Father did not want our lives to be DESTROYED by SIN. He also knew that try as we may, we could never be GOOD enough. His JUSTICE demands that we must be PUNISHED for our SIN, but His LOVE for us meant He had to find a way to SAVE us from HELL. So He SENT His SON, the Lord Jesus Christ into the world.
The Lord Jesus, God's SON lived His life without ever SINNING or BREAKING God's LAW. He was PERFECT GOD and PERFECT MAN. He went about doing GOOD always, teaching God's Word and healing people of all their diseases. He was PURE and HOLY. He never spoke a wrong word or thought a wrong thought. He always CARRIED OUT His Heavenly Father's wishes.
The Lord Jesus LOVED all the people. He LOVED You and Me. He KNEW us even before we were BORN. He CAME to Earth to DIE for Us.. to give up that PERFECT LIFE as a SACRIFICE to GOD for our SINFUL lives. It should have been You and Me dying on that awful CROSS, but JESUS took our place. He was our SUBSTITUTE. He DIED instead of You and Me!
Maybe you are saying, "Well that's okay, but I'm YOUNG now. I want to enjoy myself. Later when I'm older I'll give my life to God."
A lot of people think like this but the Bible warns against it! This is what it says, "Remember your Creator in the days of your youth, before the days of trouble come and the years approach when you will say,'I find no pleasure in them'-" ECCLESIASTES 12 v 1
Sadly, we have known and loved many young people who have DIED young. There are many young people in our local graveyard. We have stood silently at their freshly dug graves! We have mourned their LOSS because they DID NOT REMEMBER their CREATOR while they were young. NOW IT'S TOO LATE!
What about YOU? Will YOU take a stand at the CROSS? I trusted in the Lord Jesus as a young man of twenty one. I regret I can never give Him my teenage years.. but You CAN! Will You DO IT?
Pray this prayer right now, "Dear Heavenly Father, You have given me life in this wonderful world You have made. I don't know how long I will be here on Earth, as even young people die. Here and now I give my life back to You. Thank You for sending Your Son, the Lord Jesus to die for my sins on the cross. Jesus died for me and rose again. May I live each day now for Him. Amen."
