The
Artist
Hi there, all of you cool folks everywhere! Thanks very much for clicking my site button and for paying me a wee visit, here in Motherwell, Scotland. You are all very welcome. I hope that some of my Art appeals to you and that you will be encouraged in your own work. Or, if you don't paint, that it will perhaps, point you in that direction. Maybe you just like looking at Art.. well relax and enjoy!
I took up Art seriously, over eleven years ago, as a therapy; knowing very little about the subject and never having really painted before. I still have so much to learn but I found that my paintbrush seemed to become the extension of my arm and I just loved painting away. I also found great enjoyment working with clay and making ceramic pieces.
As I became more involved in Art, I realised that it seemed to be quite an elitist subject and was more geared to the middle and upper classes. Also, that equipment and materials were very expensive. I am from a working class background and over time, decided to make Art available to the community in which I live. I began to run free Art classes and to make my own primitive tools! My neighbours and friends were all very good to me, in collecting newspapers, cloths, containers, glassware and anything they thought could be used in my wee pottery! Some of the 'Mob' collected 'Bucky' bottles and corks for me! Once, when I was studying and painting, 'Fungi,' they even collected magic mushrooms to give me!
I sell my own Art to raise money for materials so that I can teach children, teenagers and adults from the community, free of charge. Some of my classes are on a one-to-one basis, where I am able to teach those who have learning difficulties or behavioural problems. Some folks come to me during rehab and others just for the sheer enjoyment of it all. We have great fun and I always learn a lot from all the different age groups, with their variety of backgrounds.
One thing of importance to me, is drawing from resources that are available to me where I live and using them along with the various mediums. Another important factor to me, is the use of different mediums for any one Art piece. In other words, I am not a 'Purist!' My respect for those who are! It just isn't me. I personally enjoy semi-abstract Art but am prepared to compromise when selling! I seldom take on commissions because I have such a free spirit and hate the restrictions but I have been known to do so!
My work as a 'Born Again' Evangelist is so full of discipline, order, commitment and being involved deeply in other people's lives, that I really do enjoy expressing my free spirit in Art. I have other sites for the Christian aspect of my life, if you wish to know more. You may also like to know that I have a great wee hubby who has worked with me on this site and his story can be found on our other sites.
Thanks for taking the time to get to know a little about my Art and me.
Much love,
Trixie.
